Is the Certificate You Hold Genuine? Verify in 30 Seconds with QR Code or Certificate Number

Is the ISO certificate your supplier handed you really valid, or has it expired? How does third-party verification work, how do you spot forgeries — a short step-by-step guide.

A supplier hands you an ISO 9001 certificate at a tender. The document looks fine; there is a logo, dates, and a signature. But how do you know the certificate is really valid? Is the issuing body still accredited? Has the certificate expired? Could it have been suspended?

The answers to these three questions must remain accurate over time — and you can verify them in 30 seconds.

Fast method: QR code

Every certificate issued by ASİS UK carries a QR code in the lower right corner. Scan it with your phone's camera:

  1. The QR code automatically takes you to the asis-uk.com.tr/belge-sorgula page
  2. The certificate number arrives pre-filled
  3. Press the "Verify" button
  4. Instant result:
    • Valid → green badge, certificate holder + standard + dates
    • Suspended → amber warning, suspension date and reason
    • Revoked → red warning, revocation date and reason
    • Expired → grey badge, the date on which it expired

The certificate holder name + scope of the standard shown on the result screen must match exactly with the certificate in your hand. If it does not match, the certificate is forged or has been altered.

Manual method: verifying by certificate number

If you cannot scan the QR code (worn print-out, photocopy, etc.), you can enter the certificate number manually:

  1. Go to asis-uk.com.tr/belge-sorgula
  2. Enter the serial number printed on the certificate (in the format ASIS-9001-2026-00001)
  3. Case and hyphens are ignored; "asis 9001 2026 00001" returns the same result

Why does third-party verification matter?

The fact that a certificate has been physically printed does not guarantee its validity. After the certificate was issued, any of the following could have occurred:

  • Re-certification audit failed → certificate was revoked within its validity period
  • Surveillance audit was missed → certificate was suspended
  • Scope changed → the old certificate is no longer valid, a new one was issued with a different scope
  • The accreditation body withdrew the certification body's authority

None of these are written on the certificate itself; you cannot tell unless you verify online. Falling into the "the supplier's certificate turned out to be invalid" situation after signing a contract creates legal and commercial exposure.

How do you spot a forgery?

Verifying ASİS UK certificates is free and anonymous (no sign-in, no membership required). If a verification query returns empty ("record not found"), there are three possibilities:

  1. You typed the certificate number incorrectly (spaces/hyphens don't matter, but letters/digits do)
  2. The certificate was not actually issued by ASİS UK (forged or from another body)
  3. (Very rarely) Database synchronisation delay — try again in 5 minutes

If you cannot tell between cases 2 and 3, reach out to us at info@asis-uk.com.tr; send the certificate number and you will get a clear answer within 1 business day.

Verifying accreditation

ASİS UK's own certification authority is itself accredited — meaning the body that audits us, TÜRKAK (the Turkish Accreditation Agency), audits us regularly. ISO certificates issued by a body that TÜRKAK has not authorised are not mutually recognised in IAF MLA member countries.

ASİS UK's accreditation number: AB-0001-YS (example — the real number is printed on the certificate). You can independently verify this number through the TÜRKAK accredited bodies list.
